This 2-day NYC itinerary covers the city's biggest highlights while keeping the pace comfortable, so you can actually enjoy the atmosphere without spending the whole time in queues or on the subway.

Day 1

Lower Manhattan, Brooklyn Bridge & DUMBO

Lower Manhattan & Brooklyn

Spend your first day exploring the historic southern tip of Manhattan before crossing into Brooklyn for some of the best skyline views in the world.

  1. Staten Island Ferry (Battery Park)

Start at the southern tip of Manhattan. The free ferry departs every 30 minutes and gives stunning close-up views of the Statue of Liberty without the $25 ticket. Allow 45 minutes for the round trip.

  2. 9/11 Memorial & Museum

A short walk from Battery Park. The twin reflecting pools are deeply moving. The museum tells the full story of September 11 with extraordinary care. Book tickets in advance and plan at least 90 minutes.

  3. Financial District & Stone Street

Walk through Wall Street and the historic Financial District. Stone Street is NYC's oldest street, narrow, cobbled, and full of excellent lunch spots. Great for photos.

  4. Walk the Brooklyn Bridge

One of the most iconic walks in the world. Cross from the Manhattan side and walk the full length to DUMBO. The view of the skyline from the middle of the bridge is unforgettable. Allow 45 minutes.

  5. DUMBO Exploration

Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass is one of the most photogenic neighborhoods in NYC. The view of the Manhattan Bridge framed by Washington Street is the most photographed spot in Brooklyn.

  6. Brooklyn Bridge Park

Follow the waterfront south through Brooklyn Bridge Park for uninterrupted Manhattan skyline views. Excellent for sunset if the timing works out.

Day 2

Central Park, Museums & Midtown

Central Park & Midtown

Your second day moves into Midtown and the Upper West and East Sides: Central Park, world-class museums, and the best views over Manhattan's skyline.

  1. Central Park (Morning Walk)

Enter the park at 72nd Street and walk south through the most iconic spots. Strawberry Fields is a John Lennon memorial. Bethesda Fountain and the Bow Bridge are the most photographed spots in the park. Allow at least 90 minutes.

  2. The Metropolitan Museum of Art or MoMA

The Met is one of the world's greatest museums. If you prefer modern art, MoMA on 53rd Street is extraordinary. Choose one and give it two to three hours. The Met's rooftop garden has great skyline views in summer.

  3. Museum Mile Lunch

The Upper East and West Sides have excellent cafés and restaurants. Avoid eating at museum cafeterias if you can, there are better options within a five-minute walk of either museum.

  4. The High Line

An elevated park built on a disused railway line through the Meatpacking District and Chelsea. Free to enter, beautifully designed, and full of public art and Hudson River views. About 1.5 miles.

  5. Top of the Rock (Rockefeller Center)

Better views than the Empire State Building because you can actually see the Empire State Building from here. The 70th floor observation deck offers unobstructed 360-degree views of Manhattan. Book online to avoid queues. Sunset timing is ideal.

  6. Times Square at Dusk

Walk through Times Square as the light fades and the neon lights take over. It is touristy and loud but genuinely impressive at night. Don't eat here, but walk through and take it in.
