The Walking Route

1

Stop 1: Praça do Comércio

Start your walk at Praça do Comércio, Lisbon's grand riverside square facing the Tagus River. The square is surrounded by elegant buildings and is one of the most impressive public spaces in Portugal.

2

Stop 2: Baixa District

From the square, explore the Baixa district. This central neighbourhood is full of lively streets, shops, and cafés. Walk along Rua Augusta, one of Lisbon's most famous pedestrian streets.

3

Stop 3: Alfama

Continue toward Alfama, Lisbon's oldest neighbourhood. Narrow streets, tiled houses, and historic buildings give the area a unique charm. This district survived the great Lisbon earthquake of 1755 and still feels very traditional.

4

Stop 4: Lisbon Cathedral

The Lisbon Cathedral (Sé de Lisboa) is one of the city's most historic landmarks and a key stop while exploring Alfama.

5

Stop 5: Miradouro de Santa Luzia

This beautiful viewpoint offers classic Lisbon views over Alfama's rooftops and the Tagus River. It's one of the most photographed spots in the city.

6

Stop 6: São Jorge Castle

Climb to São Jorge Castle for one of the best panoramic views in Lisbon. The historic fortress overlooks the entire city.

7

Stop 7: Graça Viewpoints

End your walking route at Miradouro da Senhora do Monte or Miradouro da Graça, two of the most spectacular viewpoints in Lisbon. Sunset is especially beautiful here.

Walking Tips

Comfortable walking shoes are strongly recommended due to Lisbon's steep streets and cobblestones. Allow extra time at viewpoints for photos, and consider visiting in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the midday heat.
